LIFE COACHING
I have found that not everyone who seeks counselling is looking for deep emotional change, or needs to work through really difficult things. Some people are looking for direction. Some people are looking for perspective. Other people are lost and trying to make decisions. I have decided to divide these processes up because it is a different focus for me and will become a different focus for the helping relationship. I will be more directive and active in the process of coaching. We will focus heavily on movement and what you are doing in between sessions to accomplish your movement.
What is coaching? Coaching fits into my services by being a present/future oriented, solution-focused endeavor. This is different from counselling/therapy, which is usually centered around how past experiences are impacting one’s current mental and emotional health. Therapy can also be utilized for deeper personal growth that encompasses the past, the present and the future.
Coaching is a way to take one area of life and improve it. It is a way to maximize one’s potential by focusing on what one is going to do to improve, enhance, or alter their current situation. It is about excelling from where you are. It might have to do with exercise, job promotion, or performance enhancement. Coaching is also a way to obtain perspective from another person in order to make decisions. What I will bring with me in this process is the ability to get to know you and show you what I see. I want to help you better listen to and understand yourself as you are trying to make decisions in your life.
