About Jason

black and white me shavenJason is a Certified Canadian Counselor (CCC) with the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association (#2587) (http://www.ccpa-accp.ca).  He graduated from Saybrook University, located in San Francisco, CA, obtaining his Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a Marriage and Family Therapy Specialization. Jason’s training prepared him to work with individuals, couples and families.  It also helped him to see larger system issues and how they impact individuals and the systems themselves.

Prior to private practice Jason spent 5 years working for a residential treatment centre that focused on the holistic treatment of addictions. During his time with them he had a variety of roles that included running group counselling and workshops with both men and women. He became the Program Coordinator in 2007 and focused on program philosophy and instruction while managing the men’s and women’s treatment programs.

For the past 6 years Jason has been managing a private practice, helping clients change, grow, search, and solve problems. Jason works with a variety of issues in counselling.  Please see his services page. In addition to his private practice, Jason has also facilitated groups for the Responsible Drivers Program of BC, as well as the Parenting After Separation Course through the Kelowna Family Centre. In addition, Jason has taught in the social work department of the University of British Columbia.  Jason currently works full time as a manager in the health care industry, operating his practice part time.

Jason grew up outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities with a Philosophy Concentration. After graduation he was the assistant men’s soccer coach of a university in Michigan, and a high school coach in Pennsylvania before moving to British Columbia in 2004 with his wife.  There he returned to school for his Masters degree.  Jason and his wife live in Kelowna, BC with their four children.  Family is important to Jason.
