ABOUT JASON

Jason is a Certified Canadian Counselor (CCC) with the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association (#2587) (http://www.ccpa-accp.ca).  He graduated from Saybrook University, located in San Francisco, CA, obtaining his Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a Marriage and Family Therapy Specialization. Jason’s training prepared him to work with individuals, couples and families.  It also helped him to see larger system issues and how they impact individuals and the systems themselves. Saybrook is a school of Humanistic Psychology which values the dignity and uniqueness of each person and looks to treat the whole person not just their parts, diagnoses, problems, limitations, etc. Jason believes strongly in helping clients to remove the obstacles that get in their way so they may embrace and accept who they are.

Prior to private practice Jason spent 5 years working for a residential treatment centre that focused on the holistic treatment of addictions. During his time with them he had a variety of roles that included running group therapy and workshops with both men and women. He became the Program Coordinator in 2007 and focused on program philosophy and instruction while managing the men’s and women’s treatment programs. Jason’s passion for writing and researching addiction treatment philosophy has led him to a more grounded and humanistic approach to the treatment of addictions. As well, Jason’s time as a manager helped him to see how larger system issues arise and how to work through changing them.  Managing people and working in administration can be difficult and Jason’s experience with that process taught him a lot about people and systems.

Now in private practice, Jason focuses on helping clients change, grow, search, and solve problems. He still specializes in addictions but also works with a variety of other issues.  Please see his services page. In addition to his private practice, Jason is currently facilitating groups for those charged with drinking and driving related offenses in the Responsible Drivers Program. Lastly, Jason co-facilitates the Parenting After Separation Course through the Kelowna Family Centre.

Jason grew up outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities with a Philosophy Concentration. After graduation he was the assistant men’s soccer coach of a university in Michigan, and a high school coach in Pennsylvania before moving to British Columbia in 2004 with his wife.  There he returned to school for his Masters degree.  Jason and his wife live in Kelowna, BC with their two children.  Family is important to Jason.
